Foundation Course
The Heartwood Foundation Course is made up of 12 online Units offering a broad introduction to the field of Herbal Medicine, with emphasis on the practical use of herbs to deal with common ailments. Learners who successfully complete all quizzes and assignments can apply for a place on the Professional Course.Video presentations are augmented by comprehensive PDF guides, e-books and a variety of online activities. There is plenty of exchange with other students and teaching staff, regular live webinars with renowned practitioners and a rich variety of other learning materials.
Professional Course
The Heartwood Professional Course is a 3-year, in-depth, online education in Herbal Medicine accredited by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. It involves 2,400 study hours, including over 400 hours of bespoke video presentations, and contemporary, clinically oriented, inquiry-based learning. Designed and taught by internationally renowned practitioners, its flexible study model suits varying schedules and lifestyles and works on mobile platforms as well as desktop computers. Students wishing to practice professionally are required to complete an additional 500-hour clinical training in Years 2 and 3.
The Heartwood postgraduate Continuing Professional Development series is designed on the principle that the strength of any profession comes from the depth and currency of its knowledge. Presented by acknowledged subject specialists, the online video lectures are underpinned by downloadable text files, slide presentations and mindmaps to help make the learning process as efficient as possible. The presentations and online activities, including quizzes and assessed assignments, are free to qualified medical herbalists, and at low cost to practitioners of other alternative and complementary medical disciplines.
